Email Marketing Coordinator – New York
Phaidon seeks an Email Marketing Coordinator to develop, execute, and analyze email marketing strategies designed to engage our global customer database and drive sales through our e-commerce site. In this role, you will align email marketing initiatives with our broader digital communications and e-commerce strategy, leveraging data to deliver impactful campaigns across book and limited edition verticals.
Based in our New York office, the Email Marketing Coordinator will report to the Global Director of Digital Marketing and liaise with colleagues in both the U.S. and U.K. This is an opportunity to join a creative, forward-thinking marketing team and launch campaigns with the world's most influential creatives and brands.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Develop and execute best-in-class email marketing strategy to drive engagement, increase sales, and build brand awareness
- Manage end-to-end email production, including scheduling, briefing, creative review, customer segmentation/audience targeting, and data analysis
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including e-commerce, digital marketing, marketing, publicity, and design
- Partner with the e-commerce team to refine customer segmentation and conduct testing to optimize email performance
- Establish channel-specific KPIs informed by e-commerce goals
- Engage and leverage database of Phaidon creators, collaborators, and partners
- Create customized performance dashboards for real-time reporting on key metrics
- Prepare and present insightful reports on key metrics, including data-driven recommendations for future campaigns
- Stay apprised of email marketing industry insights and trends, including best practices for GDPR, CAN-SPAM, and other regulations affecting email marketing efforts.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in email marketing, ideally for an e-commerce or retail business
- Strong understanding of email best practices, including both marketing strategies and compliance with privacy laws, industry standards, and regulations
- Proven expertise in campaign optimization strategy, including A/B testing and data analysis
- Experience working with Hubspot or similar CRM tool
- Experience working with Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, and basic HTML email templates
- Comfort working across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in creative culture, including art, architecture, design, fashion, food, interiors, photography, and travel

Commissioning Editor – New York
Phaidon is the premier global publisher of the creative arts, with over 1,500 titles in print. We work with the world’s most influential writers, chefs, architects, designers, photographers, and thinkers to produce innovative books on food, architecture, design, art, photography, fashion, general interest, travel, and illustrated books for children.
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our New York office for a commissioning editor with strong commercial acumen, a collaborative approach, and background in visual culture. Working closely with the Publisher, you will be responsible for commissioning and creating books on a wide range of subjects, identifying and bringing to fruition books for a broad and global readership.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Identifying commercially attractive ideas for books for a global audience, across the Art, Architecture, Design, Fashion, General Interest, and Photography lists, and taking them successfully through the acquisition process
- Sourcing and commissioning the perfect team of contributors
- Project managing your books, working closely with relevant in-house and freelance staff as necessary
- Working in partnership with the Editorial, Design, and Production teams to ensure your books are created on time and within budget
- Liaising with the Marketing and Sales teams to help your projects exceed their potential.
Skills and experience required:
- Experience publishing in the visual arts, with broad-ranging knowledge of the subject areas.
- Extensive contacts within the subject areas and a talent for building excellent relationships.
- Proven negotiating, decision-making, and analytical skills, as well as financial acumen.
- Creativity, can-do attitude, and commercial awareness.
- Outstanding organizational and communication abilities, with proven skills in multi-contributor or complex project management, and confidence when both working within a team and with autonomy.
- A dedication to excellence and accuracy, and an eye for detail.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in illustrated book publishing is desirable for this role, as is basic knowledge of InDesign.

Editorial Assistant: Architecture, Art, Design, Fashion, Food, Gardening, General Interest and Photography – London

The position of Editorial Assistant offers the opportunity to join our passionate editorial team based in London at a junior level and, while previous experience of publishing or a related industry would be valuable, we invite applications from talented individuals with as broad a base of backgrounds and experience as possible. The role requires first-class written and spoken communication skills, an excellent eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while keeping calm under the pressure of multiple deadlines. The successful candidate will be equally happy working collaboratively and independently and will be passionate about the subject areas the role covers.
Candidates will be selected for interview based on their abilities and we would particularly welcome applications from groups currently under-represented in book publishing.
