Introducing - The Jewelry Book
A dazzling collection featuring 300 designers, creative houses, icons, and collectors across the world who’ve produced and inspired the most memorable designs in jewelry over 200 years.
If you’re looking for a book that dazzles as much as the sparklers on a Hollywood film star’s fingers, our new release, The Jewelry Book, might just be what you’re looking for.
Created in collaboration with Melanie Grant—author of Coveted and consultant for the Responsible Jewellery Council - the book takes a deep dive into 300 of the most iconic names in jewelry, spanning more than two centuries.
Artists, designers, luxury houses, gem-carvers, goldsmiths, icons, and collectors from around the world have all been selected with the help of an international panel of experts to showcase the best of the best in jewelry history and innovation today.
Organised from A to Z, each entry has a large-format image with a short text that shares the stories behind the jewels and their creators. The book is comprehensive, covering a huge range of styles from all the major fashion eras and trends. Legendary names such as Elizabeth Taylor, Wallis Simpson, and Josephine Baker share pages with Beyoncé, Iris Apfel, and Notorious B.I.G..
Meanwhile, artist jewelers from Salvador Dalí to Louise Nevelson sit alongside fashion greats such as Elsa Schiaparelli, Christian Dior, and Chanel. And, of course, no book on jewelry would be complete without some royal jewels - whether worn by queens or maharajas - and pieces from the greats: Bulgari, Van Cleef & Arpels, Tiffany’s, Cartier, Harry Winston.
In between the famous names are lesser-known or undiscovered gems: Maōri master jade carver Joel Marsters; Evalyn Walsh McLean who once owned the Hope Diamond; Hopi artist jeweler Charles Loloma; Winifred Mason Chenet, a pioneering Black metalsmith designer; and Greg Valerio, one of the first champions of ethical sourcing and Fairmined gold.
The book is packed with archival illustrations, campaign photography, and editorial photos by the likes of Irving Penn, Toni Frissell, Hiro, Nick Knight, Paolo Roversi, Juergen Teller, and Roxanne Lowit, and the sparkling texts in the book are written by a roster of journalists from the jewelry world.
And the cover? As you might expect it’s equally dazzling, featuring a luxe, faceted emboss on a metallic material to evoke a sparkling gemstone. Take a look at The Jewelry Book in the store.
