Grace Coddington's hair: a visual history
Watch the Vogue creative director's charming, hand-drawn hair animation, covering 57 years-worth of styles
Good hair has been a constant in Grace Coddington’s life for over 50 years. American Vogue’s flame-haired creative director at large was taught how to style her own hair at British modeling school during the 1950s; she worked with the world-famous hair stylist Vidal Sassoon in Swinging London, and has, in later life, settled down with her partner, the equally talented French hair stylist Didier Malige.
Yet, if her prizing of tonsorial skills is unceasing, her choice of styles has, over the years, varied quite a bit. Grace has put together this shot animation, a Resumé of My Hair 1959 – 2016, which takes us from a mid-century flip hairstyle to today’s Grace, with her abundant ginger Barnet.
