Did you know Betak did the bad fashion show in Ocean’s 8?
Discover how Alex Betak's airline-themed catwalk show turned Helena Bonham Carter's character to crime
Alexandre de Betak is widely recognised as the best fashion show producer in the world. Designers and brands call on him to make their collections look great. However, his studio Bureau Betak, was also drafted in by the team behind the Hollywood movie Ocean’s 8, to stage an especially awful catwalk show.
In the film, Helena Bonham Carter plays Rose Weil, a disgraced, heavily indebted fashion designer, who signs up for a jewellery heist after her airline-themed catwalk show crashes and burns.
Director Gary Ross worked with Betak to put on this runway show, right by NYC’s real runways, at JFK’s former TWA terminal. The building was created by the Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen in 1962, and its interior captures the spirit of the jet age.
Betak created these scenes roughly two years ago, but he’s only just posted images on Instagram to coincide with the film’s theatrical release.
Look out for fashion world insiders – including Alexandre’s art-director and fashion-consultant wife, Chufy – in this scene. Meanwhile, to discover more about this catwalk master, order a copy of Betak: Fashion Show Revolution here.
