Look who turned up at our Kate Moss book launch!
Kate stopped by to see photographer boyfriend Mario Sorrenti as we publish the photos that wowed Calvin Klein
When we first laid out the images that comprise our Kate Moss book with photographer Mario Sorrenti we knew we were on to something truly special. The intimacy of the photos - taken in the early 1990s when the pair were friends and lovers - was just beautiful to behold.
These were the photos that Calvin Klein saw in the early nineties, leading him to choose Mario and Kate to give life to his Obsession fragrance campaign.
In our book, Mario recalls their first meeting. "I remember sitting next to her and feeling like my heart was going to stop," he writes. "I was completely overwhelmed by her charm and beauty. When the shoot ended, I didn't think I would see her again."
Several weeks later, though by chance, they met again at a party in South Kensington. "We hung out all night, walking into the early morning until we fell asleep in the grass in Hyde Park," Mario remembers. "We spent the next two years together; we were inseparable."
In the coming weeks we'll be bringing you some of Mario's stories from that time but for starters we thought you'd like to take a look at our launch of the book at Matches, 5 Carlos Place, Mayfair on Saturday. We don't think we've ever seen so many smartphones raised in the air as when the pair reunited to pose for pictures!
