Great Dixter goes to South Carolina
The cook and author Aaron Bertelsen spreads his love for English gardening stateside
Great Dixter might be one of the most beautiful, and quintessentially British country gardens, yet its appeal also travels well it seems.
The vegetable gardener, cook and author of The Great Dixter Cookbook Aaron Bertelsen, has been visiting the southern states of America, as part of his book tour. Having shown folk in Fort Worth, Texas, how to make pea and mint soup, Bertelsen put in an appearance at the Hub City bookshop, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, a couple of days ago, to discuss his work and sign copies of his new book.
He also got the chance to give a talk to a keen gardening audience thirty miles south west, at Greenville, repaying their southern hospitality with hearty English home cooking.
You can follow Aaron’s progress on his own blog; and to learn more about the British house, garden and recipes finding favour - and flavour - in the US, order a copy of The Great Dixter Cookbook here.
