Aaron Bertelsen continues his journey through America with a talk at the New York Botanical Garden
Earlier this week we brought you some news from The Great Dixter Cookbook author Aaron Bertelsen's appearance in the southern states of the US. Having shown folk in Fort Worth, Texas, how to make pea and mint soup, Aaron put in an appearance at the Hub City Bookshop & Press, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to discuss his work and sign copies of his new book.
Yesterday (Thursday), Aaron was the guest speaker at a sold out event at the New York Botanical Garden. The New York Botanical Garden is a botanical garden and National Historic Landmark located in the Bronx, New York City. The 250-acre site's landscape supports over one million living plants - so a pretty good place for Aaron to pitch up we're sure you'll agree.
More than 425 people crammed into the venue's auditorium, a good few of them clutching books waiting to be signed, to be greeted with tables creaking under the weight of piles of tasty shortbread, baked using a recipe from the book.
Aaron's talk was one of last stops on a tour of north America that had seen The Great Dixter chef bring a small but sweet taste of the Kent countryside to America. The previous evening, Aaron had hosted a ticketed dinner at Terrain in Glen Mills, PA - once again with all the courses served based on recipes from his book.
