Martin Parr talks Manchester on BBC 6 Music this weekend
The Magnum photographer talks through his trip to the north with Mary Anne Hobbs
Martin Parr might come from leafy Surrey, but a lot of his best work was done in the North of England. His Non-Conformist series remains a seminal work of 20th century British reportage, and there’s some great earlier work too, dating from his time studying at Manchester Polytechnic during the early 1970s.
Though he later settled in Bristol, he returned to the city recently for a look back at the exhibition Return to Manchester, and will be discussing that project, as well as his other work, with Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC Radio 6 Music, on Sunday morning.
